During a day of nationwide events in support of President Trump, two events in particular in California and Philadelphia spiralled into violence. In California we saw the turnout of about one thousand people in support of Trump and about 20 counter protesters dressed in black. The police presence was strong after scuffles broke out between the two groups, three ‘Antifa’ protestors had been arrested along individuals amongst Trump’s supporters being pepper sprayed and attacked.
In Philadelphia there was a large presence of Antifascist protestors who temporarily stopped the planned march of Trump supporters. Eventually the Trump supporters did have their march though it was called off partway due to the escalating tension between the antifascist protestors and the police attempting to protect the march.
We have seen large-scale violence like this before most notably with Milo Yiannopolous being shutdown after attempting a speech at Berkley. Also at Berkley was the outbreak of violence during another planned gathering in support of Trump. Since then an event has been planned for mid-April with many pro-Trump individuals returning, and certainly the same antifascist groups such as San Francisco’s BAMN, whose leader Yvette Falarca was featured only Tucker Carlson’s show on Fox.
Trump would go to Twitter to thank his supporters online saying “Thanks you for all of the Trump Rallies today. Amazing support. We will all MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
